I think it might have something to do with avahi hosts.
Normally host names should be OK without workaround. But it does not hurt to force the hosts list to contain its own name and other in the network.
First, add the ix4 and the MacOS box or any box (you want it to see the ix4 as hostname.local) to the avahi list of hosts in
And reboot the ix4.
If that is not enough, add those same hosts to the /etc/hosts
